What we collect
To provide registered agent service we collect: your name and email address, the phone number and address you give at checkout, your entity's name and Secretary of State entity number, and the mailing address where we forward documents. When you visit the site, Google Analytics also collects usage data, such as pages viewed, the site or search that brought you here, your general location, and your device and browser type. We collect only what the service requires.
Payment information
Payments are processed by Stripe or, if you choose, by PayPal. Your payment details, such as your card number or PayPal sign-in, go directly to them and are never stored on Corpgate, Inc.'s systems. If you pay with PayPal, PayPal also sends us the name and email address on your PayPal account, and we keep that email address with your order records. Their handling of your data is described in their own privacy policies.
Your documents
Documents we receive for your entity are scanned and emailed to you, and hard copies are forwarded to you. We keep a copy of each scanned document and a log of what was received and when it was sent to you, for our records.
What we don't do
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with third parties except as required to provide the service (for example, Stripe and PayPal for billing, Google Workspace and Google Sheets for our email and records, and Cloudflare for hosting), with Google through Google Analytics as described below, or as required by law.
Your rights
You may request a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (subject to records we must keep for legal and accounting purposes). Email [email protected].
Cookies and analytics
Corpgate, Inc. does not use advertising cookies or sell data to advertisers. Our payment processors (Stripe and PayPal) and hosting provider (Cloudflare) may set cookies for security and fraud prevention, such as protecting checkout from stolen cards and the site from automated attacks. When you pay with PayPal, PayPal's own cookie and privacy policies apply.
We use Google Analytics to measure site traffic, such as how many people visit and which pages or links brought them here. It sets a first-party cookie and sends usage events, such as page views, to Google, which turns them into reports. Advertising features are turned off. Separately, your browser keeps a short note of which search engine, site, or link first brought you here, and if you place an order that note is attached to the order. If you pay through Stripe, the note is passed to Stripe with your order. Either way it is kept in our records and is not shared with anyone else. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Do Not Track: we do not track you across other websites, and Google Analytics runs with its advertising and cross-device features turned off, so the site works the same whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track signal. The Stripe, PayPal and Cloudflare security tools described above may recognize a device across the sites they protect, to stop fraud and attacks; their own privacy policies describe how they use that information.
Your contact information page
You can review and update the contact information we hold for your company at corpgate.com/account. To sign in, you enter your email address, and we email a sign-in link to it if it is on file. There is no password. When the main email, the mailing address or the backup email on file changes, we email every address that was on file before the change, so you can tell us if you did not make it.
Information we keep for this:
- Your contact name, phone number, mailing address, main email address and, if you give us one, a second (backup) email address, and whether you want time-sensitive notices copied to it. You can change or remove the phone number and the second email at any time on the page.
- A record of each change made on the page: what changed, when, and the email address that was signed in. We keep this record with our client records.
- A record of each sign-in link we send (when, and a coded form of the email address it was asked for), kept for one day to limit how many links can be sent.
- When your payment comes from a new email address and we update your main email, we keep the earlier address on file, with the date, to match your past and future payments. We also keep it as your backup email unless you already gave us one or ask us to stop.
Undeliverable email
When an email we send you bounces back as undeliverable, our system reads the bounce notice to learn which address failed, marks that address in our records, and, for time-sensitive notices (legal papers served on your company, state notices, or a final billing notice), sends the notice once to your backup email. We keep a short record of each email we send (what kind of email it was and where it went, and, for time-sensitive notices, a copy of the notice) for 45 days so we can do this.
Services we use
- Google (Google Workspace and Google Sheets) stores our email and client records.
- Cloudflare runs the page and our systems, and its Turnstile check on the sign-in form helps keep automated programs out. Turnstile may process information about your browser and device; see Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Stripe processes card payments. If you pay yearly by card, "Manage your card" takes you to Stripe's own page, where Stripe handles your card details. We never see or store your full card number.
- PayPal processes PayPal payments. Automatic yearly PayPal payments are managed in your PayPal account.
The contact information page has no advertising or analytics tracking.
Your company's address with the California Secretary of State is separate: changing it on our page updates our records only.
Changes
If this policy changes, the current version will always be at this page with the date above.
